The borer (ECB) has more than 200 host plants, which include many common weeds and crops. ECB is the most important insect pest of peppers in New England. Prior to setting fruit, only an occasional pepper plant suffers injury to stems or branches. Later in the season, ECB larvae cause extensive fruit loss in most pepper fields.
